A little change goes a long way

Adding a few cents to your energy bill helps flip the switch to improve lives and communities.

As part of Operation Round Up (ORU), you round up your monthly Tipmont electric bill to the nearest dollar — for a tax-deductible average annual contribution of $6.

These dollars are then paid out as grants to area nonprofit efforts. In January 2022, Tipmont distributed nearly $12,000 in ORU grants for:

Helping Hands Community Outreach

School supplies, bleach wipes, sanitizer and classroom supplies for Helping Hands Community Outreach to offer to Greater Lafayette teachers in low-income areas and Title I schools — supporting in-class instruction for the school year’s spring semester.

Hillsboro Fire Department

The Hillsboro Fire Department’s purchase of extrication tools to help its 26 volunteer firefighters more easily remove people trapped from car wrecks. These tools can pry open jammed doors, cut off vehicles’ roofs or lift dashboards to greatly improve chances of survival or minimal injury.

Madison Township Firemen

Air-monitoring devices for Madison Township Firemen (who serve about 4,200 people) when responding to fire calls, ensuring that air is safe for firefighters to breathe.

Through the Gate

Books for curricular studies and material for one-on-one counseling sessions at Linden’s Through the Gate, an inpatient rehabilitation facility that helps women find freedom from drug and alcohol addiction, and resulting factors.

Veedersburg Revitalization Association

The Veedersburg Revitalization Association’s efforts to make modern upgrades to the historic 1903 Clover Leaf Depot — namely upgrading the building’s electrical system — so residents of Veedersburg can use the building for community events.
